Dot 2 Dot Cafe in Dorchester Is Closing

A Dorchester dining spot that has been featured on our sister site as a hidden gem is shutting down.

According to a source, Dot 2 Dot Cafe on Dorchester Avenue is closing on Friday, August 18, with a Facebook post from the place confirming this, saying that "I can't really find a way to sugar-coat this message (and that's not really my style, is it?) so I will just be blunt and to the point. I will close the doors to Dot 2 Dot Cafe..and hand over the keys to a new tenant. I am taking this opportunity to slow things down a little and to spend more time with my family." The eatery, which first opened its doors more than nine years ago, is a breakfast and lunch spot that hosts a variety of events including live music, readings, and open mic nights. The Boston's Hidden Restaurants site has featured the place (and awarded it best breakfast spot for 2013), with the review being found at this link:
