Don Akin, Owner of Medieval Manor, Has Passed Away

The person behind a landmark theater and restaurant that shut down a year and a half ago has passed away.

A Twitter post from @universalhub states that Don Akin, who owned the now-closed Medieval Manor in Boston's South End, has died, with a page included in the tweet saying that he was 67 years old. Akin ran the E Berkeley Street spot for more than 40 years until closing the place following a New Year's Eve show at the end of 2015, but it subsequently appeared that the spot might end up reopening in its space until plans ended up falling through last summer.

The Medieval Manor was a popular venue for a variety of parties and events over the years, with its website saying that the comedic roots of its interactive dinner theater were in "vaudeville and burlesque."
